The Festival
India Fest is a one-day festival showcasing South Asian food, art, fashion, music, dance and culture. India Fest is a free, family-oriented event that will take place in the heart of downtown Calgary at Shaw Millennium Park from

11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 28th, 2011.

Festival Vision
* To further develop a sense of pride and community among South Asians through a celebration of South Asian culture
* To raise awareness and appreciation of South Asian culture, and to promote
multicultural respect and understanding, among fellow Canadians
* To provide a platform for artists in both traditional and contemporary realms of
music, dance, film, theatre, art, literature, poetry, cuisine, arts & crafts

Festival Mandate
The mandate for India Fest Alberta 2011 is to support the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter in their mission to stop family violence in the Calgary community. In 2009, India Fest Alberta donated a portion of the festival proceeds to the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
